The Carlos Briseño Foundation
Mission Statement
There are two basic co-equal purposes of
the Carlos Briseño Foundation, (hereinafter
abbreviated ‘Foundation’/the Foundation,
etc.)
One of these purposes is to mitigate the
trauma and economic impact upon the families,
loved ones, and the community at large, that
accompanies motorcycle accidents. This primarily
includes crashes which result in fatal injuries
to the motorcycle rider and/or passenger,
but may also include serious injuries resulting
in permanent disabilities and/or riders ending
up in a coma.
The other of these purposes is pursuit of
a community-wide educational agenda. These
efforts will be in three basic parts.
One phase includes advancement of Motorcyclist
skills, enhancement of safety techniques
and roadway design features/flaws whenever
possible.
The second phase will be to develop educational
programs benefiting the non-motorcycling
motorists, primarily to increase awareness
of proven adjustments in operator techniques
for non-two wheeled vehicles. The Foundation
will seek to integrate new and old tried
and true methods for communicating and relating
to the public about making those adjustments
while sharing the road with motorcycles.
Included in this educational process will
be a third phase:
An ongoing effort to keep legislators, agencies,
their employees, consultants, corporate interests,
and the media abreast of skewed statistics
and dangerous conditions related to vehicular
traffic as it affects motorcycles, and/or
motorcyclists.
Examples of involvement by the Foundation
in the El Paso county region as to Primary
Purpose One would be, financial assistance
to the individual rider, his family, and/or
the passenger and/or their family in case
of a traffic accident involving motorcyclists.
This could include necessities due to a rider’s
loss of time from work, and/or ongoing assistance
in the event of a downed rider being unable
to work in his/her former occupation due
to injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident.
We will also be co-sponsoring educational
programs aimed at public awareness, in cooperation
with other Motorcycle activist organizations
in and around the El Paso region.
